Reform to Notaries, Conservators and Archivists

The processing of Bulletin N°12092-07, which modifies the registry and notarial system in its organic and functional aspects, continues to advance in Congress. It is currently in the Second constitutional process stage, through the analysis of said project in the Senate.

The purpose of this project is to modernize the notarial and registry system, which includes notaries, conservators and archivists, covering organic and functional elements of their systems and establishing higher standards of transparency and technology.

The various indications for the bill continue to be discussed in the Senate, with some of the Executive branch having already been approved, such as, for example, subjecting notaries, conservators and archivists to the supervision of the National Consumer Service. Therefore, it would be the obligation of said service to ensure compliance with the provisions of Law No. 19,496, the Organic Code of Courts and other special laws that relate to the quality of the service provided and the protection of consumer rights.

The processing of this regulation will have to be followed very closely since, if approved and without prejudice to any possible changes it may undergo, a new standard is being incorporated for a registration system that has not been modified in more than one hundred years.
