The taxes leading wealth-related revenue

Today, Diario Financiero newspaper features analysis from our tax lawyers at Fischer y Cía. on the tax burden affecting high-net-worth individuals in Chile. Associate José Luis Campino noted that: “These are taxes that are not levied on taxpayers’ income, but rather on a specific asset (real estate) owned by the taxpayer.” Along the same lines, our partner Juan Cristóbal Ortega added that: “This tax also includes a surtax when the aggregate tax-assessed value (…) of properties owned by the same taxpayer exceeds approximately CLP 600 million.”
